This museum might look small but it is huge on the inside with multiple stories and sections filled with things to see and learn. Don't miss the jail cells on the top floor of the house! Kids loved going through seeing what it was like a long time ago and tried picking up the real ball and chain.

Very cool museum and a perfect place to spend some time while you're in Silverton. If you take the train, grab some lunch and then head over here. You can see the old jail, lots of mining and historic artifacts, some railroad equipment and climb on some old military vehicles.

Holy heck is this museum cool! The gentlemen that talked with us about the history of the town and the museum had so much knowledge and is friendly. There was just so much to see and it being self guided made it easier to take my time looking at all the wonderful items! I truly enjoyed all the different minerals and crystals on display!

This is a must stop to learn about mining and Silverton history! Amazing displays. Well worth the price of admission.

Wonderful museum full of interesting artifacts and history. The detail put into the displays are amazing and the staff members we met had stories to add. 100% all should see it. Bonus we got to take our fur member thru it also. She too enjoyed it.

This museum is one of the best museums that I've ever been to. It's so packed full of interestingly neat stuff. No way to look at everything and read every single information board, in a single day! They have such a wide variety of items that there's something for everyone to enjoy! I took lots of pictures so I could go back and take a better look. Will be back every time I come to Colorado

I was expecting a nice small town museum and boy was I pleasantly surprised! This is quite a place, with thousands of well interpreted artifacts and excellent exhibits. It gave me a new understanding of how much hard work and ingenuity was involved in hard rock mining.

I don't know where to begin, this is positively one of the best museums I have visited. I could have stayed hours on hours enjoying the exhibits and artifacts on Silverton and San Juan Mountains mining history. The history is presented in a beautiful, intriguing and mysterious way almost. Absolutely wonderful!
